The MENA Partnership for Democracy & Development (MPDD)announces today that it has commenced its matchmaking and service mediation activities
and will give out grants to that effect to five sets of service providers and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) based in the MENA region.
The needs-based matchmaking and service mediation will provide assistance to CSOs working in numerous fields, namely: women's empowerment, media, convening of professionals, students' unions, promoting active citizenship, human rights, peace building, conflict resolution transitional justice, rehabilitation, victim empowerment, and coexistence.
MPDD launched its online platform in December 2013.
To date, over 155 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and service providers from the MENA region (mostly Tunisia, Egypt and Libya), Europe, and North America have registered.
MPDD considers the platform to be the core of its service mediation and matchmaking tools.
On identifying their needs, MPDD matches CSOs with suitable service providers from around the world. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other CSOs are listed by country, initiative and area of specialty on the basis of assessed potential and their own descriptions.
By registering, service providers and CSOs are able to join the online network, this will help them raise their online profile and engage with other organizations with similar goals and/or needs and with those that seek their services.
The network of service providers includes for profit and non profit firms, experts and practitioners in the areas of media, communications, entrepreneurship, fundraising, campaigning, constitutional reform, rule of law, human rights and civil liberties, and women’s empowerment.
The online platform also serves as the MPDD website with activities held by GMF Tunis with CSO representatives and success stories featured online.
The MENA Partnership for Democracy and Development is an innovative multilateral initiative launched by the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), the U.S. Government, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, with support from the Government of Lithuania, in an effort to support reform efforts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
