A publication dedicated to the core values of the European Union

YouthProAktiv has published the “Collection of Best Practices – Inclusive Non-Formal Education Activities Fostering and Promoting the Six Core EU Values – 2025”, a publication bringing together and showcasing concrete experiences developed by youth and civil society organisations in the field of inclusive non-formal education.

The collection focuses on how the six core values of the European Union – human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for human rights, including minority rights – can be translated into concrete educational actions, particularly for young people facing social, economic or educational disadvantages.

The publication aims to promote the exchange of experiences, peer learning, transferability and replication of innovative practices in youth work and non-formal education.

PADIL among the participating organisations

The PADIL Association – Promotion and Support for Local Development Initiatives, based in Metline, Tunisia, is one of the organisations featured in this international collection, alongside organisations from Georgia, Morocco, Romania, Belgium, Spain and Italy.

The publication presents PADIL as a non-profit organisation committed to advancing sustainable and inclusive local development. It highlights PADIL’s work in capacity building, partnership-based initiatives and areas including sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, education, healthcare and youth employment.

REVITAL-METLINE”: PADIL’s selected best practice

The experience selected from PADIL is the “REVITAL-METLINE” project, focusing on training and inclusion of marginalised groups, particularly young unemployed women and people with disabilities.

The project promotes three core EU values:

  • Respect for human dignity;
  • Equality;
  • Respect for human rights, including the rights of minorities.

The approach developed by PADIL is based on creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment, where every participant feels respected, supported and able to participate on an equal basis. It also incorporates mentoring, peer support and regular feedback mechanisms, enabling activities to be continuously adapted to participants’ needs.

An approach based on listening, confidence and participation

Among the key lessons identified through PADIL’s experience, the publication highlights the importance of listening to participants, flexibility in educational methods, and the development of a strong community spirit.

The experience also demonstrates that non-formal education is not limited to the acquisition of technical skills. It can significantly contribute to strengthening self-confidence, a sense of inclusion and participants’ ability to take an active role within their community. Cooperation with local organisations and community actors was also identified as an essential success factor.

Local partnership as a driver for inclusion

A particularly important dimension of REVITAL-METLINE was the cooperation established with the Association of Persons with Disabilities in Metline.

This partnership enabled the project to use the association’s training facilities, involve the organisation in identifying and selecting young participants with disabilities, and engage one of its teachers directly in the training process. The teacher subsequently transferred the knowledge gained to her own students.

The cooperation therefore went beyond logistical support, contributing to local ownership, the empowerment and recognition of persons with disabilities, and the development of community-led initiatives in Metline.

International recognition of PADIL’s work

The inclusion of REVITAL-METLINE in this international collection represents an important recognition of the work carried out by PADIL in the fields of social inclusion, non-formal education, youth empowerment and participatory local development.

It also confirms the relevance of an approach based on listening to beneficiaries, adapting methodologies to individual needs, promoting peer support and actively involving local stakeholders.

For PADIL, this international recognition provides an additional opportunity to share the experience developed in Metline, strengthen exchanges with partner organisations and contribute to the dissemination of inclusive practices that can be adapted and replicated in other contexts.

Continuing the momentum

In its conclusions, the YouthProAktiv publication underlines the important role of non-formal education in promoting European values, civic engagement, inclusion, skills development and young people’s confidence.

It particularly recommends strengthening youth-centred approaches, inclusion and accessibility, mentoring and peer learning, community and institutional partnerships, innovation and adaptability, as well as the documentation and sharing of good practices.

The PADIL Association warmly welcomes this recognition and expresses its appreciation to YouthProAktiv for highlighting the REVITAL-METLINE experience in this international publication. This selection is an important source of motivation for PADIL to continue and further strengthen its actions towards a more inclusive, participatory and solidarity-based society.

  • le respect de la dignité humaine ;
  • l’égalité ;
