The Tunisian flag, was present at several intercultural moments
As part of its ongoing commitment to youth mobility, inclusion, and intercultural dialogue, the PADIL Association took part in the Erasmus+ project "Building Bridges – Enhancing Inclusion," held in Msida, Malta, from August 7 to 15, 2026.
This mobility gave young participants a valuable opportunity to strengthen their intercultural skills, discover other European realities, and build bonds of cooperation and friendship with young people from different countries.
Preparing for the Mobility
To ensure the active and responsible participation of the Tunisian delegation, PADIL organized an online preparatory meeting on August 3, 2026, bringing together the Tunisian participants:
- Sara MATMATI, Group Leader, Chaïma MATMATI, Alaeddine NAAMANE, Dhia Eddine MANOUCHI and Rayen MOALLA.
This meeting was an opportunity to revisit the project's objectives as well as the core principles of the Erasmus+ program: inclusion, solidarity, intercultural dialogue, active citizenship, and respect for diversity.
Participants also benefited from feedback drawn from the Advance Planning Visit (APV) held in Malta in March 2026, as well as practical recommendations to support their integration throughout the mobility. Particular attention was given to the importance of stepping outside one's own national group, engaging with other delegations, actively taking part in workshops and activities, and showcasing Tunisian culture and traditions with openness and respect.
A Strong Intercultural Dimension
The mobility in Msida gave participants the chance to experience Erasmus+ values firsthand, through exchanges, group activities, and intercultural encounters.
The Tunisian delegation contributed to the cultural program by highlighting two expressions of its heritage:
- a Henna – Harkous workshop, allowing participants from other countries to discover this traditional Tunisian art form;
- an activity focused on writing first names in Arabic, encouraging discovery of the Arabic language and culture.
These activities created genuine spaces for dialogue and sharing, bringing participants closer together through mutual cultural discovery.
Tunisia at the Heart of the Exchanges
The Tunisian flag, brought by the delegation, was present at several intercultural moments and group photographs, symbolizing Tunisia's presence within this European dynamic of cooperation and dialogue among young people.
The variety of patterns featured in the "Harkous / Henna Designs" display further highlighted the artistic and graphic richness of this element of Tunisian cultural heritage.
A Learning and Eye-Opening Experience
Beyond the project's formal activities, the mobility gave PADIL's young participants the opportunity to:
- develop their independence and self-confidence;
- improve their intercultural communication skills;
- discover new cultures and ways of life;
- build their ability to work in an international environment;
- create new networks and friendships with young people from Europe and the Mediterranean;
- deepen their understanding of the values and goals of the Erasmus+ program.
This participation fits fully within PADIL's broader mission to open up young Tunisians to international exchange, strengthen their active citizenship, and support them in becoming engaged members of their communities.
Practical and Responsible Preparation
Before departure, participants received practical guidance on getting around Malta, including keeping transport tickets for reimbursement purposes and using the Tallinja app. They were also given recommendations related to summer conditions: sun protection, staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and choosing footwear suited to outdoor activities and travel.
Acknowledgments
The PADIL Association extends its sincere thanks to Eya HADHRI and Mariem BRIKI for their availability, dedication, and valuable contribution to the preparation of this mobility.
PADIL also congratulates the entire Tunisian delegation for their participation and commitment throughout this international experience, which helps strengthen the visibility of both Tunisia and the Association within youth cooperation and exchange networks.
"Building Bridges – Enhancing Inclusion" ultimately turned this mobility into a genuine space for meeting, learning, cultural sharing, and building bridges between young people — fully in keeping with the spirit of the Erasmus+ program.

- un atelier de Henna – Harkous, permettant aux participant(e)s étrangers de découvrir cet art traditionnel tunisien ;
- développer leur autonomie et leur confiance en soi ;
- améliorer leurs compétences en communication interculturelle ;
- découvrir de nouvelles cultures et modes de vie ;
- développer leur capacité à travailler dans un environnement international ;
- créer de nouveaux réseaux et liens d'amitié avec des jeunes européens et méditerranéens ;
